Real Food Orkney Hamper 18" Wicker Basket

We're celebrating the opening of our new Real Food Cafe in Orkney with this hamper - it's full of our favourite Orkney products that are frequently to be seen on our Specials boards! Orkney's local produce is widely recognised as some of the best in Britain. Our low-lying land is rich in minerals and being close to the sea means our fish and seafood is as fresh as it gets! This hamper includes a recipe book by a local cook so you can try your hand at some of our local specialities! We've included some smoked salmon - it's traditionally brined using salt and sugar then cold smoked over oak wood fire before being sliced by hand, not machine. Also, some Scandinavian-style sweet-cured salmon in Raspberry & Champagne Sauce & marinated herring with juniper. Donaldson's smoked chicken breast wrapped in bacon is yet another award-winning product from our local butcher brothers. We've included Grimbister Farmhouse crumbly cheese from a small family-run farm just outside Kirkwall & some award-winning Orkney Cheese made with the milk from Orkney dairy farms & packaged in hand-dipped wax triangles. There's also the newest products from Orkney Isles Preserves' wind-powered kitchen on Shapinsay - puffin chutney (fruity tomato) & puffin jam (raspberry) in honour of our popular local seabirds! There's also some locally made fudge & beremeal biscuts, made with an ancient form of barley only grown in Orkney. All the 'real food' in our hampers is sourced from local producers; most of the businesses are small, cottage-based industries and you simply won't find their products outside of Orkney. This hamper is presented in an 18" Wicker Basket and arrives with your hand-written message on one of our Orkney gift cards.
