Orkney's local produce is widely recognised as some of the best in Britain. Our low-lying land is rich in minerals and being close to the sea means our fish and seafood is as fresh as it gets! This hamper provides a taste of high-quality Orkney local produce & includes a recipe book by local cook & writer, Alan Bichan, so you can try your hand at some of our local specialities! The fish & seafood in this hamper is from Jolly's, our local fishmonger- they use a unique kiln & traditional methods, cold-smoking the fish for up to 8 hours. Donaldson's are our local butchers and have won awards for practically all their products!- their haggis is made to an old family recipe. Also, we've included award-winning Orkney cheese as well as Grimbister farmhouse crumbly cheese from a small family-run farm just outside Kirkwall. We've also included some preserves from Glynis's wind-powered kitchen in Shapinsay- she makes exclusive jam for us . Lynne in Westray makes chutney from her hotel kitchen- tasty stuff. Erlend's honey deserves a special mention- it's so moreish, you can eat it straight out the jar. There's also a selection of cakes, biscuits & oatcakes from our local bakeries as well as some chocolatey treats. All the 'real food' in our hampers is sourced from local Orkney producers; most of the businesses are small, cottage-based industries and you simply won't find their products outside of Orkney. This hamper is presented in an 18" Wicker Basket and arrives with your hand-written message on one of our Orkney gift cards.
